Bayside builders in Melbourne
Keep the street and the neighbours, and build new.
Oakview Homes builds knockdown rebuilds and new homes in bayside Melbourne. Our current knockdown rebuild is on this side of the city: the old house has been demolished and the block is cleared.
Follow our knockdown rebuild stage by stage, starting with the demolition update.
What is building in Bayside Melbourne like?
Bayside Melbourne is mostly established streets, and many have older homes on full-size blocks. That is exactly the kind of block a knockdown rebuild suits: stay near the bay, keep the street, the school and the neighbours, and end up with a home built for how you live now. It also means no two sites are the same, so the block comes first.
Planning applications go to your local council; the building permit comes from a registered building surveyor.
What can Oakview build in Bayside Melbourne?
- Knockdown rebuilds on established blocks.
- New single-storey and custom homes on the blocks that come up after a subdivision.
- Side-by-side homes on wider blocks: coming soon.
Rebuilding near the bay?
- Homes built before the 1990s can contain asbestos, which a licensed removalist takes out before demolition.
- Planning overlays (heritage, vegetation, flooding) are on your property report from VicPlan; send us the address and we will look.
- Two or more homes on one lot need a planning permit from the council.
- A soil test and a feature and level survey set the slab design and show site costs early.

Where else do we build?
We also build in south-east Melbourne and Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. If your old house is near the end of its life, the stage payments and how long a build takes are good places to start.

How do you start?
- Send us the address: we look at the block, the title and the planning overlays.
- We plan the demolition and the new home together, and quote both.
- Once you sign, the permits are applied for: demolition, building and planning if needed.
- The old house comes down, then the new one goes up stage by stage to handover.
